James Murphy is such a mystery to me. At times it seems there is little separating the witty speak-sing schtick of songs like Losing My Edge from the likes of Pepper, the Sunscreen Song, or, the recent wienieeisms of Thou Shalt Always Kill. And yet somehow, miraculously he avoids such pitfalls. Maybe it’s his Eno/Bowie vein, or his ridonkulous production skills, but whatever it is he keeps it up on Sounds of Silver.
